You may need to complete a DBS check if you are completing a placement where a DBS certificate is required for you to be able to perform the job role. The type of check required will depend on the nature and location of the placement activity.
In some instances, the organisation you are placed with will process and pay for your DBS check. Please check with them to confirm before arranging it yourself. If they have already asked you to arrange your DBS check, then follow the guidelines below. Please note, you will be responsible for paying for the DBS check yourself.
You can find out which DBS check is right for you at GOV.UK – Find out DBS check.
For further guidance on arranging a DBS check, please raise a new enquiry by selecting the contact us button.
Please specify the following in your enquiry:
- The work experience/placement setting; for example, working in a hospital.
- Your job role whilst on work experience/placement.
- If your placement involves contact with children, vulnerable adults, or both.
- If you are a home or international student.
A DBS check may take up to 6 weeks to complete. Please allow sufficient time for your check to be processed. You will be unable to begin your placement if the check is not completed beforehand.
