FAQ 914
I have work experience/a placement organised where I am required to have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. What do I need to do?

You may need to complete a DBS check if you are completing a placement where a DBS certificate is required for you to be able to perform the job role. The type of check required will depend on the nature and location of the placement activity.

In some instances, the organisation you are placed with will process and pay for your DBS check. Please check with them to confirm before arranging it yourself. If they have already asked you to arrange your DBS check, then follow the guidelines below. Please note, you will be responsible for paying for the DBS check yourself.

You can find out which DBS check is right for you at GOV.UK – Find out DBS check.
