FAQ 53
I already have a GP at home, do I still need to register locally?

It is not compulsory to register with a GP (general practitioner) locally, but it is highly recommended.

Even if you do not wish to register with a GP at University, it is advisable to register with USW Health Service to access health advice and support. The Nurses can also help you register with a local GP if you later choose too.

Should you become unwell or need advice during your time at University, registering with a local general practitioner will ensure you can access care and medication if you need it.

If you’re not sure which surgery to register with, please visit the Registration page for information.
