How can I arrange an appointment with an optician?
To find a local optician, you can search NHS Direct Wales website, or call 111 directly for advice. Most high street Opticians provide free emergency appointments as part of the Welsh Eye Care Scheme. You can check your symptoms in advance by using the NHS’s Eye Problem Symptom Checker.
If you require an eye test, you simply need to arrange an appointment with the optician of your choice. There is usually a cost involved, however, there are exceptions depending on your circumstances, see here for more information.
Your local pharmacy may also offer help and advice for some eye problems, as part of the Common Ailment Service.
