FAQ 315
What is the ‘Fit to Sit’ policy?

The University operates a ‘Fit to Sit’ policy, which means that by submitting each assessment and/or sitting an examination, you are declaring yourself as fit. You cannot then claim you were unfit due to circumstances or illness affecting your performance.

'Fit to Sit' is a declaration or confirmation by you that you are well enough, both mentally and physically, to submit an assessment or sit an examination. It applies to examinations, in-class tests, presentations, clinical practice appraisals, practical tests, coursework assessments and projects. Exceptions are stage performance assessments and assessed performance in music.

If you think you are not ‘Fit to Sit’, this must be for a significant reason and you should inform your Advice Zone as soon as possible. More information about the Fit to Sit Policy can be found in the Extenuating Circumstances Regulations.
