New students – If you have applied for Student Finance, you must also log into Blackboard for the first time once enrolled. This will trigger a notification advising us that you are engaging with USW and will allow us to confirm your registration with the Student Loans Company. You can then expect to receive payment within 4 to 6 working days, depending on who you bank with. Payments will not be released until your course has started.
Please note, your application for Student Finance must have been approved before the University can confirm your registration with the Student Loans Company.
Please check your personal details provided to USW are identical as that provided to SLC; if they are not identical, this will prevent the release of funding. If it has been over 2 weeks since you enrolled and you have received no payment, please contact your relevant student finance body, as they may be awaiting further evidence. A Money and Support Adviser will be happy to assist you.
Returning students - you are only required to be enrolled on your course for the registration confirmation to be sent for your student loans. If your application for a loan has been approved at least four working days before the start date of your course then you should receive the loan in your bank account on the first day of your course. If your application for a loan has not been approved before this it will take three to five working days after confirmation has been sent for you to receive your loan.
